Tomato Ulybka

Market-Ready Performance: Shelf Life and Transit

For growers supplying fresh markets, the primary hurdle is logistics. The “Ulybka” (Ulybka) hybrid, developed by VNIIISSOK and Gavrish, is engineered specifically to address transit loss. Unlike standard salad tomatoes that lose integrity shortly after harvest, this hybrid offers a storage life of over 30 days, maintaining firm flesh and marketable appearance throughout.

Agrotechnical Insights

As an indeterminate plant, “Ulybka” requires precise pruning and trellising. With a maturation period of 130–150 days, it is classified as a late-season hybrid, making it an excellent choice for summer-to-autumn cycles. The plant is vigorous and thrives in controlled greenhouse environments.

• Fruit Profile: The flat-shaped fruits consistently exceed 200 grams, meeting the commercial standard for high-quality packaging.
• Visual Appeal: Its unique range of colors—from subtle pink to vibrant orange—creates significant shelf differentiation compared to standard red varieties.
• Yield Potential: Under proper management, the crop produces between 70 and 100 tonnes per hectare, providing a strong return on investment for professional agricultural operations.

Who is this for?

“Ulybka” is not intended for casual gardeners; it is a tool for commercial producers targeting retail chains. Its standout strength is the ability to withstand long-distance transport without bruising or softening. If your business model requires large, high-quality fruit that stays fresh on the shelf for a month, “Ulybka” is a reliable and highly productive asset.
