The tomato variety RODNIC is a family medium-late variety developed over five generations by gardeners from the Demit de Rosay family. Plants of this variety are characterized by high strength and vigor, reaching heights of up to 1.5 meters and more. Fruits are red in color and have a flat-round shape with slight ribbing at the stem attachment. The flesh is dense and rich, with an excellent taste. The average weight of one fruit ranges from 400 to 500 grams, as confirmed by the variety's achievements, such as winning the first prize for the largest tomato at the vegetable festival in France in 2018.
Fruits of the RODNIC variety have an incredibly sweet taste and tender flesh, making them suitable for various applications. They are excellent for fresh consumption and are also recommended for pickling, marinating, and preparing summer salads. The yield per plant reaches 4.0–4.5 kg. For successful cultivation, it is recommended to follow agronomic practices: sowing seedlings in mid-March, transplanting when the first 1–2 true leaves appear, regular feeding, and hardening off. Transplanting into open ground is done at the beginning of June, with regular watering, weeding, loosening, and staking and pruning plants into 1–2 stems with removal of side shoots.
The tomato RODNIC is not only tasty but also beneficial due to its lycopene content — a powerful antioxidant that gives the fruits their red color and has properties that slow down the aging process and promote bone tissue formation. The fruits are mostly water (more than 93%), yet they are rich in carbohydrates, minerals (potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium), and vitamins A, C, E, PP. These components support normal cardiovascular system function and stimulate cleansing processes in the body, making tomato RODNIC not only delicious but also a healthy product for overall well-being.
