Betting on the Pink Standard: My Experience with Pink Rise F1

When working with indeterminate tomatoes, I'm used to high yields often clashing with plant immunity. However, the Pink Rise F1 hybrid from the Japanese breeding house Sakata has become a workhorse for me, covering 100% of quality production requirements. When setting up a greenhouse, the main fear is losing a portion of the harvest to soil pathogens or viruses. Here, this problem is almost entirely solved: resistance to Verticillium, Alternaria, and Tobacco Mosaic Virus allows for less spending on fungicides and more focus on proper irrigation and feeding.

Agrotechnical Features and Fruit Potential

This is a mid-ripening variety, with the first harvests starting at 100–120 days. This is an optimal timeline for those planning commercial deliveries. The plant is vigorous and well-foliated, which protects the fruit from sunburn but requires proper pruning to prevent over-densification. A fruit weight of 150–200 grams is the standard for retail chains and markets: not small cherry tomatoes, but not giants that crack under the slightest pressure.

Why it's easy to handle:

• Transportability. This is a solid advantage. Pink Rise F1 does not turn into mush during long-distance shipping, which is critical for wholesale.
• Immunity. Resistance to root-knot nematodes and a whole list of leaf spots (gray, brown, mycospherella) makes it predictable. I know the plant won't collapse in the middle of the season.
• Flavor and Appearance. Even, round, pink fruit has an appealing commercial sheen that makes it stand out on the shelf among common red tomatoes.

For an operator, this hybrid is a reliable workhorse. It is forgiving of minor mistakes in the feeding schedule, provided the base is built correctly, and its resistance to Fusarium wilt provides peace of mind, even in stressful climatic conditions.
