Tomato MALGRASS

Big Yields and Long Shelf Life: The Malgross Advantage

In the world of commercial tomato production, growers often face a dilemma: choose a variety that is flavorful but highly perishable, or one that is firm enough for long-distance transport but lacks taste. The indeterminate hybrid Malgross, developed by the Turkish breeding company Yuksel Tohum A.S., aims to bridge this gap, offering a professional solution for fresh-market producers.

The defining trait of Malgross is its combination of impressive fruit weight (over 200 grams) and exceptional post-harvest durability. With a shelf life exceeding 30 days, this hybrid grants farmers greater flexibility in supply chain management. You are no longer forced to sell immediately; you can wait for better market conditions without worrying about fruit degradation or loss of visual appeal.

Why Choose Malgross?

• Marketability: The fruits have a classic flat-round shape and an attractive red-to-pink hue that appeals to supermarket consumers.
• Maturity: A 90-100 day cycle from transplanting makes this a reliable mid-early performer.
• Plant Habit: Being indeterminate, it thrives in greenhouse conditions, allowing for high-density production and a consistent harvest schedule throughout the season.

Malgross is designed for growers who prioritize the fresh-market sector. Its strength lies in its durability and uniform large fruit size. However, this is not a "low-maintenance" variety; it requires precise fertigation—particularly potassium management—to support the heavy fruit load and ensure optimal taste. Without proper care, the plant’s potential will not be fully realized. If you are looking for a reliable, transportable variety for retail chains, Malgross offers the consistency required for high-end professional agriculture.
