Tomato L403

Reliable Performance for Short Growing Seasons

For growers dealing with shorter summers, the L403 determinate tomato offers a dependable, low-risk solution. With a maturity window of up to 90 days, this hybrid is designed to maximize output before adverse weather sets in, making it a staple for open-field cultivation and temporary row covers.

Why L403 Stands Out

• Uniform Maturity: The plant exhibits highly predictable ripening, which is essential for commercial growers aiming for scheduled harvests.
• Optimized Fruit Size: With fruits weighing 80–100 grams, L403 meets the market demand for consistent, bite-sized quality, perfect for fresh sales or processing.
• Logistical Advantage: Excellent transportability is a core strength. The firm skin and flesh integrity allow for long-distance shipping without the risk of crushing or premature spoilage.

Cultivation Insights

As a determinate variety, L403 eliminates the need for intensive pruning and complex staking systems, significantly reducing labor inputs. While the plant is inherently sturdy, maintaining steady soil moisture during the fruit-setting stage is vital to ensuring the fruits consistently reach their target 80–100g weight. The vibrant red color and uniform round shape provide strong shelf appeal for retail environments.

L403 is not aiming to compete with oversized beefsteak varieties; rather, it thrives in the niche of reliable, logistical-friendly produce. It is an ideal choice for both home gardeners looking for a hassle-free crop and professional farmers prioritizing yield predictability and marketability.
