Tomato Knyazhna

The Legacy of Selective Breeding: The «Knyazhna» Tomato

The «Knyazhna» variety, presented by the selection and seed-growing firm "Ssf Gisok," is a prime example of classic indeterminate breeding, tailored for professional growers and experienced farmers. The development of this variety resulted from the collaborative work of authors E. N. Andreeva, M. I. Ushakova, and S. L. Nazina, with the support of the "Tomagros" company. The arrival of "Knyazhna" in the market addressed the demand for large-fruited, transportable tomatoes with high productivity.

Agronomic Characteristics and Potential

This variety belongs to the indeterminate type, which dictates its cultivation in protected ground conditions or greenhouses. The plant requires pruning and staking; however, the effort invested in maintenance is rewarded with high yields ranging from 130 to 160 tons per hectare. The growing season lasts 120–130 days, placing it in the mid-to-late maturity category.

• Fruit Weight: Over 200 grams, making this tomato ideal for commercial sales and processing.
• Shape and Color: A distinct cylindrical geometry and intense red color make these fruits easily recognizable in the marketplace.
• Fruit Quality: A firm skin and solid flesh structure allow for long-distance transport without sacrificing shelf life.

The «Knyazhna» tomato is primarily sought after for its ability to produce consistent commercial batches with excellent storage properties. Its seeds, distributed by "Ssf Gisok," have stood the test of time, proving to be a reliable material for achieving stable yields in temperate climate regions.
