Tomato Knight is a medium-early variety intended for cultivation in open ground and under plastic covers. The plant is determinate, compact, reaching a height of 40 to 70 cm, and requires moderate pinching to achieve a high-quality yield. The fruiting period varies from 96 to 115 days after emergence, making it suitable for various climatic conditions, including the North Caucasus region.
The fruits of Tomato Knight are cylindrical or elongated, with a smooth surface and dense skin. Their weight ranges from 60 to 150 grams, and their color changes from green in early stages to bright red upon full ripening. The variety is distinguished by high dry matter content, enhancing flavor and making the fruits especially valuable for fresh consumption and whole-fruit canning. The tomatoes do not crack during processing, have excellent transportability, and can be stored for up to two months after harvest.
The cultivation technology for Tomato Knight involves sowing seedlings in early March, followed by transplanting into open ground in mid-May. To accelerate fruiting and protect against cold, temporary plastic cover is recommended. The plant prefers sunny, wind-protected areas with loamy soils enriched with organic fertilizers. Best preceding crops include legumes, cucurbits, root crops, and leafy vegetables; however, tomatoes should not be planted after potatoes, peppers, eggplants, or watermelon. The variety is heat-tolerant and highly productive, with a commercial yield of up to 80% and a yield potential of up to 842 centners per hectare.
