Tomato Gurman

Optimized Production for Greenhouse Growers

The «Gurman» tomato is a specialized tool for greenhouse producers aiming for consistent, high-volume yields. As an indeterminate variety developed by the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing, it is built for long-cycle cultivation. Its vigorous, non-terminating growth habit allows growers to maximize vertical space, ensuring high yields of 70–100 tons per hectare under proper management.

Adaptive Fruit Sizing for Market Demands

One of the primary advantages of «Gurman» is its flexibility in fruit weight, which ranges from 20g (cocktail size) to 100g (standard plum shape). This versatility enables farm managers to tailor their output based on current market trends:

• Cocktail Segment (up to 20g): Perfect for high-value pre-packed retail containers.
• Medium-Sized Market (40–100g): An ideal standard for fresh market sales and whole-fruit processing.

The plum shape provides inherent structural strength, resulting in excellent shelf life and resistance to transit damage. To achieve the 70–100 t/ha potential, consistent nutrient management and diligent canopy management—specifically pruning and trellis training—are essential to support the heavy fruit load of the indeterminate vines.

Field Application and Performance

With a maturity period of 100–120 days, «Gurman» fits effectively into staggered planting schedules, allowing for continuous supply throughout the harvest season. The variety performs reliably under fluctuating environmental conditions, making it a robust choice for greenhouses where temperature control may be challenging. The vivid red and pink colors ensure consumer appeal, while the uniform shape simplifies both manual and automated packing operations.
