Tomato DECO

Real-world Insights on Growing Дэко Tomatoes

Working with genetics from Isi Sementi S.P.A., you quickly notice the difference in germination energy. Дэко is a prime example of how Italian breeding, curated by Boni Angelo, adapts to open fields and plastic greenhouses. From a grower's perspective, this tomato doesn't require complex maintenance routines if you follow standard agronomic practices.

Field Performance and Management

• Germination: Consistently high. When maintaining a seedbed temperature of 22-24°C, uniform seedlings emerge within 5-7 days.
• Plant Habit: The plant features a robust leaf canopy that effectively protects the fruit from sunburn—a critical advantage during intense summer heat.
• Disease Resistance: The variety shows strong natural resistance to common nightshade pathogens, which allows for a more efficient fungicide application schedule.

Throughout the season, Дэко proves to be a predictable performer. It is not prone to over-vegetative growth with moderate nitrogen application, and fruit set remains stable even during temperature fluctuations. The fruits are uniform and firm, making them ideal for hand-harvesting; they don't bruise easily in crates and handle long-distance transport remarkably well.

Economics and Yield

For a farm where every cent counts, the marketable yield is what matters most. Дэко delivers a high percentage of standardized produce, significantly reducing sorting losses. Investing in Isi Sementi S.P.A. seeds pays off by converting inputs into high-liquidity market produce. Crop maintenance is straightforward—standard staking and regular irrigation without excessive fertilizer usage lead to a reliable outcome at the end of the season.
