Tomato Blackberry Blue is a medium-maturing, tall variety with plants reaching about 1.6 meters in height. The plants have dark green, slender leaves and form beautiful, even clusters of glossy cherry tomatoes. In technical ripeness, the fruits are dark green, and in biological ripeness, they develop a burgundy-magenta hue with anthocyanin markings on the shoulders. Fruit weight ranges from 20 to 25 grams; they are sweet in taste with a distinct fruity note and pleasant aroma.
This variety is a Russian hybrid developed by a group of breeders and approved for use in 2020. The fruits are heart-shaped or cube-shaped with two chambers and exhibit resistance to cracking, tobacco mosaic virus, and fusarium wilt. Immature fruits display a greenish-purple color with green spots and burgundy patches, while mature fruits turn purple-red or red-burgundy with purple spots.
Blackberry Blue belongs to the indeterminate group, requiring training and support during cultivation. It is recommended for cultivation in greenhouse or conventional greenhouses with a planting scheme of 70x60 cm. Seedlings should be transplanted between May 10 and May 20, which promotes high yields and high-quality fruits with excellent flavor characteristics.
