Tomato BLACK OPAL

A small giant with a deep, rich flavor

The 'Black Opal' tomato from Euro-Semena is a top choice for growers who prioritize flavor quality over sheer yield volume. This indeterminate variety requires careful pruning and training, but it rewards the gardener with an abundant harvest of miniature, dessert-like tomatoes.

Growing tips and management

Given its indeterminate growth habit, this plant requires sturdy support and timely suckering. With a maturity period of 120-130 days, the variety performs best in greenhouses or under tunnel covers, where you can effectively control the temperature to ensure proper truss development.

• Pruning: Training to 1-2 stems is recommended to produce uniform clusters.
• Agronomy: Regular, consistent watering is essential to prevent the thin skin of the fruit from cracking due to moisture fluctuations.
• Application: With a weight of 20-40 grams, these fruits are perfect for whole-fruit canning, culinary garnishing, and fresh market appeal.

The brown color of 'Black Opal' is not just for show; these tomatoes are rich in anthocyanins and sugars, making them a staple for gourmet produce lines. In small-scale farming, this variety proves its value through high marketability: the fruits hold firmly on the truss, minimizing waste during harvest at the peak of the season.
