Tomato BELBEK

Efficiency and Speed in Tomato Production

The «Belbek» tomato, developed by the Crimean Research Institute of Agriculture, is designed specifically for producers seeking high efficiency and rapid cycle times. As a determinant variety, it is built to manage harsh, hot climates by reaching maturity within 90 days, successfully bypassing the period of extreme peak summer heat.

Agronomic Characteristics

The primary appeal of Belbek lies in its predictable performance. The plants are compact and require minimal pruning, making them a top choice for large-scale commercial farming where labor costs must be controlled. The fruits are globe-shaped, firm, and weigh between 80 and 150 grams. Their uniform red color and tough skin make them highly resistant to bruising during shipping.

Why Choose Belbek?

• Production Capacity: With proper management, the crop can yield between 70 and 100 tons per hectare.
• Market Versatility: The structural integrity of the fruit makes it suitable for both the fresh market and industrial processing (canning/paste).
• Critical Success Factors: Due to its high yielding nature, this variety demands a consistent nutrient management plan to hit the 150g fruit weight targets.

Belbek is not a luxury salad variety; it is a workhorse. It excels in environments where the producer needs a reliable, hardy, and transportable product that shows consistent results across large plots.
