HANNA

HANNA is a mid-season hybrid of sweet corn (Zea mays L. convar. saccharata Korn.) with a vegetation period of 75-80 days, intended for cultivation in open ground. The plants are characterized by high strength and resistance to lodging, ensuring reliability during cultivation. Plant height varies from 180 to 220 cm, while the first ear height is 70-80 cm. The ears have a cylindrical shape, a length of 20 to 25 cm, and contain 16 to 22 rows of yellow grains with high sugar content and no starchy aftertaste, guaranteeing excellent taste qualities of boiled products. HANNA ears are characterized by good fullness and even grains of 11-12 mm in size, while the mass of a standard ear reaches 230 g. The plant possesses high adaptive ability to stress conditions and resistance to main diseases, such as corn mosaic virus, rust, and moderate resistance to northern corn leaf blight. Thanks to these qualities, the hybrid maintains high yield and product quality even under unfavorable conditions. The hybrid is recommended for use both fresh and for canning, making it versatile for various applications. The yield of standard ears is about 0.8 kg per square meter. Thanks to good husk coverage and ability to remain in the ground, the ears are preserved until harvest and have a long shelf life after harvest, which is convenient for market realization of fresh products and processing.
