Sunflower VA 76 SUR is an ultrearly variety with a vegetation period of 72 to 78 days, allowing it to be grown twice a year, including after winter crops. Due to its early maturity and adaptation to stressful conditions, this variety is recommended for cultivation in all regions of Ukraine, including risky farming zones. It is ideal for secondary sowings such as fallow and intercropping, as well as for replanting, making it a versatile choice for farmers aiming for high land-use efficiency.
Plants of the VA 76 SUR variety are low-growing, reaching a height of 120-140 cm, with medium-stemmed, densely branched stems and large seed heads with a diameter of 19-25 cm. Seeds are dark gray, medium-sized, with a 1000-seed weight of 50-60 grams. Seed germination rate is 20-22%, and oil content reaches up to 50%, ensuring high oil yield. The yield potential varies depending on growing conditions and averages 20-30 ц/га, reaching 18-25 ц/га when sown after winter barley.
The variety exhibits high resistance to the complex of diseases including downy mildew and rust, and is tolerant to fusarium and verticillium, significantly reducing the risk of yield loss. It is adaptable to various soil types, but for optimal germination, seed fraction 3.6-4.0 mm is recommended under adequate moisture, or fraction 2.8-3.0 mm under dry conditions to accelerate emergence. Seeds undergo thorough processing: sieving, vibratory cleaning to remove damaged and lightweight seeds, and fungicide treatment with added microfertilizers, ensuring high germination energy and uniform emergence, which contributes to increased yield and accelerated maturation.
