Sunflower Unosun

Austrian breeding for reliable field results

In the sunflower market, the Unosan hybrid from the Austrian company Saatbau occupies a niche for solutions focused on maximum efficiency and predictability. This product is the result of years of research by breeders aimed at developing a crop capable of maintaining yield potential even under the complex disease pressure typical of intensive European agriculture.

Technological potential and herbicide protection

The main feature of Unosan is its genetic tolerance to imidazolinone herbicides (the Euro-Lightning system). This makes the hybrid a primary tool for fields with high weed infestation levels, where traditional weed control methods may fall short. The ability to apply post-emergence treatments allows agronomists to maintain full control over field cleanliness without risking phytotoxicity for the crop.

Phytosanitary shield

Disease resistance is the cornerstone of Unosan's productivity. The hybrid's genetic profile includes complex resistance to key pathogens that limit sunflower yields:

• Verticillium and Sclerotinia: the crop successfully resists rots, maintaining the structural integrity of the stems and heads.
• Downy mildew (Peronospora): the hybrid reliably navigates critical growth stages even under high humidity conditions.
• Phomopsis and Phoma: protection against these diseases ensures the leaf apparatus stays healthy until full maturity, guaranteeing optimal seed filling.

By choosing Saatbau Unosan, agricultural producers acquire an instrument that minimizes the risks of crop loss from epiphytotics and weeds. It is a balanced choice for farmers who value Austrian quality standards and streamlined field management.
