Sunflower Simirasol

Agronomic Management of the Simirasol Hybrid

The Simirasol sunflower hybrid, developed by the Austrian company Probstdorfer Saatzucht and registered in Ukraine in 2026, is designed for intensive farming systems. To achieve maximum yield potential, growers must focus on precise plant density and targeted nutrient management throughout the growing season.

Sowing and Plant Density

Sowing should commence when soil temperatures reach +10…+12°C at the seeding depth. Avoid early planting in cold soil to prevent uneven emergence. The recommended harvest density varies by moisture availability:

• Low moisture zones: 50,000 plants per hectare.
• High moisture zones: 55,000–60,000 plants per hectare.

Nutrient Management and Crop Care

Simirasol performs best on fertile, well-drained soils with a neutral pH. Avoid fields prone to waterlogging, as this can restrict root development. Key stages for crop management include:

• Early Growth: Nitrogen application during the 2–4 true leaf stage is essential for establishing a strong vegetative base.
• Budding Phase: Boron application is critical at the “star” stage to ensure proper head development and seed set.
• Weed Control: Early-season weed management is vital to eliminate competition for water and nutrients before canopy closure.

The hybrid shows high responsiveness to foliar micronutrient applications. Regular scouting during the flowering period is recommended to monitor for pests and ensure timely intervention, protecting the yield potential of the crop.
