Sunflower Lan 22

Field Performance of the Lan-22 Sunflower Hybrid

For an agronomist working directly in the field, the Lan-22 hybrid from the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute represents reliability. As a simple hybrid, it performs consistently under moderate care, without requiring strict adherence to narrow agrotechnological windows. The medium-ripening group (110–120 days) allows for optimized equipment scheduling during harvest time.

Operational Metrics and Field Resistance

From an operational perspective, Lan-22 shows significant resilience against common agricultural challenges:

• Phytosanitary Control: High resistance to downy mildew eliminates the need for additional fungicide treatments. The plant successfully resists rust, phomopsis, phoma, and powdery mildew, effectively reducing crop protection costs.
• Morphology: The plant height of 170–180 cm is ideal for standard combine harvesters. Uniform ripening minimizes harvesting losses, as the seeds do not shatter and the flower heads maintain structural integrity.
• Oil Content: An oil output of 45–50% ensures high marketability when delivering the harvest to elevators.

Working with this hybrid ensures a clean, uniform crop with predictable stem behavior. The lack of lodging tendencies makes the harvest easier for the combine operator, even under challenging weather conditions in the late summer. Lan-22 is a robust tool of Ukrainian selection, adapted to local climatic realities where long-term performance outweighs flashy marketing claims.
