IR 198

IR 198 is an intensive high-oleic sunflower hybrid developed for the Clearfield system, ensuring resistance to the Euro-lighting herbicide. The hybrid boasts high yield potential, particularly on fertile soils and with high levels of agronomy. The oil contains up to 90% oleic acid when spatial isolation and favorable weather conditions are observed, making it especially valuable for producing quality sunflower oil.

The hybrid plants have an average height of 175 to 185 cm depending on soil moisture and belong to the mid-early maturity group. IR 198 exhibits high initial growth energy in the early stages of organogenesis, contributing to good development and realization of yield potential. The hybrid is characterized by high oil content up to 55%, resistance to main sunflower diseases such as phoma, phomos, as well as stem and head sclerotinia. Furthermore, it is resistant to stem lodging and possesses tolerance to various races of the parasitic weed shattercane.

It is recommended to grow IR 198 in various climatic zones of Ukraine, including steppe, forest-steppe, and forest zone. Optimal plant density at harvest depends on soil moisture levels and varies from 40 to 60 thousand plants per hectare. Due to its characteristics and resistance, the hybrid is suitable for intensive cultivation technologies and ensures a stable high yield, making it a profitable choice for agricultural producers.
