Kano soybean is a fast-maturing grain feed variety recommended for cultivation in the Polissia and forest-steppe regions. This variety has medium oil content, making it suitable for grain purposes. Kano was registered in 2016 and developed by the soybean research institute. The high adaptability of this variety allows successful cultivation under various climatic conditions, ensuring a stable yield.
Soybean is an annual herbaceous plant of the legume family, resembling beans, with a stem height ranging from 40 cm to 2 m. It plays an important role in crop rotation, as it enriches the soil with nitrogen, improves its structure, and reduces weed growth. For successful cultivation of Kano soybean, it is recommended to follow optimal sowing dates — from mid-April to mid-May, when the topsoil has stabilized at 12-14 °C. The seed depth should be 4-5 cm. Soybean should not be replanted on the same site for at least two years; suitable preceding crops include cereal crops, corn, sugar beet, potatoes, and perennial grasses.
Kano soybean is characterized by high resistance to diseases, lodging, and shattering, as well as uniform maturity. The seeds have high germination and vigor, enabling yields of 65-70 ц/га. Thanks to these qualities, the Kano variety is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to obtain high-quality grain and improve soil fertility.
