Soybean AFK Sprint

Technological Efficiency and Phytosanitary Reliability

The "AFK Sprin" soybean variety, developed by AF Kolos, represents a modern approach to domestic plant breeding, specifically designed to address the primary challenge for farmers: yield stability under high infection pressure. Created by originators Olena and Volodymyr Bahatchenko, along with Leonid Tsentylo, this variety offers a reliable solution for producers seeking to minimize harvest losses without the need for excessive fungicide applications.

Field Performance and Morphology

A key feature of "AFK Sprin" is its morphology, which is perfectly adapted for modern mechanized harvesting techniques. The plant reaches an optimal height of 80–90 cm, allowing for a well-developed leaf canopy and significant pod formation. Notably, the height of the lower pod attachment is 10–12 cm. This specific trait is critical for reducing harvest losses: it enables combine headers to work efficiently at a low cut, capturing the entire yield without damaging the seeds or leaving the lower pods behind.

Phytosanitary Resilience

The core value of this variety lies in its robust genetic resistance. In an environment where downy mildew (peronosporosis), septoria, and fusarium pose an annual threat to crops, "AFK Sprin" demonstrates high tolerance to these pathogens. This makes the variety highly sought after in regions with fluctuating humidity levels, where fungal disease risks are elevated. The breeding strategy of AF Kolos focuses on reducing production costs by limiting the reliance on expensive chemical crop protection products.

• Originators: O.S. Bahatchenko, V.V. Bahatchenko, L.V. Tsentylo.
• Breeding origin: Russia (AF Kolos).
• Application: Commercial soybean production with high quality standards.
• Key advantage: Optimized for mechanized harvest due to pod attachment height.

"AFK Sprin" integrates seamlessly into intensive cultivation programs, offering agronomists a balance between high yield potential and simplified field management. It is a preferred choice for those who prioritize predictability and consistent protection against common legume diseases.
