Oriana is an early-maturing soybean variety developed in Ukraine at the Institute of Feed and Agriculture of Podillya, NAAN. It is characterized by a determinate growth type and plant height ranging from 60 to 70 cm. The vegetation period is 100–110 days, allowing the variety to be effectively used in various climatic conditions, including the Polissia and Steppe zones. Seeds have an elongated shape, yellow seed coat, and light-brown hilum, which is a distinctive feature of the variety.
The Oriana variety is distinguished by high yield, reaching 3.0 to 4.0 tons per hectare, as well as high protein content (38.5–40.5%) and oil content (20.0–21.5%) in seeds. Due to its strong root system with adventitious roots in the first internodes, the variety demonstrates high plasticity and drought resistance, ensuring stable results even under challenging agroclimatic conditions. The seeding rate is approximately 750,000 seeds per hectare, which promotes optimal plant development.
Oriana exhibits high resistance to major diseases and stress factors, including fusarium, powdery mildew, brown and stripe stem rust, rhiachosporeosis, and rust, confirmed by high winter hardiness and lodging resistance. The variety positively responds to high rates of mineral fertilizers, which allows for increased yield and product quality. Due to these characteristics, Oriana is a reliable choice for farmers seeking high-quality and stable soybean yields.
