Prometheus is a mid-season Sh2 type sugar corn hybrid with bicolor kernels combining 25% white and 75% yellow. The vegetative period ranges from 75 to 85 days, allowing the hybrid to grow successfully under various climatic conditions. The plant forms strong yet compact stems about 180 cm tall, bearing large conical ears exceeding 24 cm in length. Due to the combination of kernel color and ear shape, the product has an attractive market appearance, making the hybrid popular on vegetable markets.
Prometheus features high sugar content — over 24% — ensuring excellent taste and making it ideal for fresh consumption and processing. The hybrid yields 30-40 thousand marketable ears per hectare when following recommended agronomic practices. Seeds are sown in warmed soil at a temperature no lower than +12°C, to a depth of 2-5 cm, with a seeding rate of 55-65 thousand per hectare, ensuring optimal plant development.
The hybrid exhibits high resistance to stress factors such as drought and heat, and possesses good immunity to diseases typical for sugar corn. Ears retain their market appearance during transport and storage, further enhancing their commercial value. Crop care is standard and requires no special effort, making Prometheus a convenient and profitable choice for farmers and producers.
