Sage Salyut

Selection Heritage of SCFNAC: Sage Variety «Salut»

The culinary and medicinal sage variety «Salut» is the result of long-term breeding efforts by the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "North Caucasian Federal Scientific Agrarian Center" (SCFNAC). The development of this variety was led by experts Valery Vladimirovich Kulintsev, Vera Vladimirovna Chumakova, and Valery Fedorovich Chumakov. As a product of Russian agricultural research, the variety is specifically adapted to temperate and warm climate zones.

Agronomic Features and Application

The primary advantage of «Salut» lies in its blend of medicinal properties and high aesthetic value. Its compact bush form makes it a sought-after element in landscape design: it fits harmoniously into borders, mixed flower beds, and rock gardens without requiring significant space for growth. The lush green foliage retains its intensity throughout the entire growing season, making the plant an excellent, stable background element.

• Medicinal Potential: Like other forms of medicinal sage, this variety is valued for its essential oils and phytoncides, making it an excellent choice for home gardens to provide raw materials for natural health remedies.
• Ornamental Value: The breeding focus was on creating a tidy, dense bush, which sets «Salut» apart from wild species that often appear sprawling or uneven.
• Reliability: The work of the originator (SCFNAC) ensures varietal purity and predictable plant development, provided standard horticultural practices are followed.

Choosing this variety is an investment in established breeding that perfectly balances the practical benefits of a medicinal herb with the visual appeal of a modern garden.
