Nemchinovskiy 1 is a medium-late generation hybrid of winter rye (Secale cereale L.) of the first generation, possessing a diploid form. The plants are of medium height, ranging from 93 to 115 cm, with an intermediate type of bush and a semi-eared spike of medium length and density. The spike and sheath of the flag leaf are covered with a medium waxy coating, while the stem pubescence under the spike varies from weak to medium. The grain is of medium size with a dark aleurone layer coloration; the mass of 1000 grains ranges from 28-35 g. The hybrid's vegetative period lasts from 299 to 320 days. The hybrid is distinguished by high winter hardiness, above-average frost tolerance, and lodging resistance, ensuring harvest stability under complex climatic conditions. Nemchinovskiy 1 shows above-average drought resistance, as well as moderate susceptibility to brown rust and fusarium of the spike, while possessing moderate resistance to stem rust. Baking qualities of the grain are assessed as satisfactory, and the falling number indicator reaches up to 359 seconds, indicating good flour quality. The yield of the Nemchinovskiy 1 hybrid is high and stable: the average yield is about 6.4 t/ha, which exceeds the standard Valday by 10%, while the maximum yield, recorded in the Republic of Tatarstan, reached 7.9 t/ha. The hybrid was created based on sterile analogues of inbred lines of winter rye, which ensures its high productivity and grain quality. Nemchinovskiy 1 is recommended for cultivation in regions with a moderate climate, where high winter hardiness and resistance to adverse weather conditions are important.
