Rainbow is a decorative pumpkin variety that is excellent for decorating gardens in a country style. The plant is trailing with dense foliage; stem length reaches from 3 to 5 meters. It forms up to 30 small fruits of various shapes — pear-shaped, flattened, oval, or round. The fruit coloration can be yellow, green, or striped, and the surface can be smooth or bumpy. The average weight of the fruits is from 300 to 500 grams. Due to the hard rind and dense flesh, the fruits retain their decorative appearance for a long time, making them ideal for creating original compositions and decorative items. The plant is undemanding and grows quickly, but requires certain conditions for optimal development. The seeds are already prepared for sowing and do not require additional treatment. Cultivation is possible both by direct sowing in the ground in April-May and via seedlings. Seedlings appear within 5–7 days at temperatures from 18 to 24°C. Rainbow pumpkin is sensitive to frost, prefers sunny places, but can also grow in partial shade. The optimal temperature for growth is 25–30°C. The plant does not require high soil moisture; excess moisture can lead to root rot. To obtain quality fruits, it is recommended to grow on fertile loamy or light clay soils with neutral acidity and high content of nutrients and organic fertilizers. To increase yield, it is useful to pinch the main stem and apply organic and mineral fertilizers. Ripe fruits with a hard rind are harvested in autumn before the onset of frost. Thanks to its decorativeness and variety of shapes and colors, Rainbow pumpkin is perfect for decorating gazebos, fences, and even growing in pots, creating bright and original compositions that maintain their attractiveness until next year.
