LS RUGBY — a mid-late maturing sunflower hybrid (Helianthus annuus L.) with a vegetation period ranging from 113 to 119 days, developed by the French producer Laboulet. The hybrid belongs to the linoleic type and is intended for cultivation using the Clearfield technology, which provides resistance to imidazolinone group herbicides Euro-Lightning®. Thanks to this technology, LS RUGBY demonstrates high weed resistance and allows effective control of volunteer chicory (A-F strains), significantly enhancing crop stability. The hybrid is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Orenburg Region, Krasnoyarsk Krai, North Caucasus, Volga, Lower Volga, Ural, West Siberian, and East Siberian regions. LS RUGBY is distinguished by high drought tolerance and rapid growth, facilitating adaptation to various climatic conditions. Average yield in the Ural region is approximately 13.4 c/ha, reaching 31.2 c/ha in the East Siberian region, with potential yield capacity up to 5.5 t/ha. The seeds of this hybrid are characterized by high oil content — from 40.6% to 51.7%, making LS RUGBY attractive for oilseed production. High oil content and disease resistance, including genetic resistance to five strains of chicory and LMR, ensure stable quality and quantity of yield. Thus, LS RUGBY represents a reliable and high-yielding sunflower hybrid, optimal for cultivation in various climatic zones with modern plant protection technologies.
