Onion Pinotage

Pinotez by Enza Limited: A High-Performance Red Onion Hybrid

In the competitive segment of mid-season red onions, the Pinotez hybrid from the Dutch breeding company Enza Limited stands out for its high-yield potential and exceptional market quality. It is a workhorse hybrid designed for industrial scale, where consistency and disease resistance are paramount.

Resilience and Yield Potential

One of the strongest arguments for choosing Pinotez is its genetic resistance to Pink Root rot. This is a game-changer for commercial farmers who face soil-borne disease pressure and need a reliable crop that maintains root integrity throughout its 90–100 day growth cycle. This resilience is the foundation for its massive yield, capable of exceeding 100 tonnes per hectare under proper agronomic management.

Product Specifications

• Bulb Quality: Uniform, round bulbs with a deep, attractive red color that meets high retail standards.
• Storage Capability: Designed for short-to-medium storage (3–4 months), making it an excellent choice for autumn and early winter distribution.

Who is this hybrid for? Pinotez is tailored for commercial producers who prioritize volume and efficient turnover. It performs best in intensive farming systems with optimized irrigation. While its storage window is limited to 4 months, its rapid growth and high output make it a highly profitable option for farmers aiming to hit the market early in the season and clear their stocks before long-term storage varieties take over.
