Onion MARI

Technical Profile of 'Mari' Onion

Developed by breeders A.F. Agafonov and I.I. Baranov, this variety is a high-yielding salad onion with a growing season of up to 90 days. Its primary technical advantage is the balanced combination of rapid growth rates and high bulb density. With proper agricultural management, the yield potential exceeds 100 tons per hectare, positioning it as a competitive choice for large-scale vegetable production.

Morphology and Technical Specs

• Bulb Architecture: Rounded shape with high uniformity, ensuring excellent marketability and ease of packing.
• Coloration: Light brown outer scales protecting a crisp, white internal flesh.
• Weight Parameters: The bulbs exhibit consistent sizing, averaging 80–100 grams, which is the preferred standard for the fresh-market salad segment.

Cultivation and Practical Use

Designed specifically for the fresh market, the 'Mari' variety offers a mild, juicy flavor profile. Because it is optimized for manual harvesting, careful handling during post-harvest is recommended to maintain the integrity of the protective scales, which are essential for shelf-life stability. The rapid 90-day maturity window allows for an efficient production cycle, minimizing exposure to late-season pests and diseases. This variety is an ideal technical solution for growers seeking consistent yields and high-quality produce in a short timeframe.
