Marketmore 70

Cucumber variety Marketmore 70 is a mid-late, high-yielding salad-type variety with a vegetative period from emergence to fruiting onset of about 65-70 days. Fruits have an elongated shape, up to 20 cm long, smooth and dark green, with excellent taste and aroma, making them indispensable for fresh consumption, especially in salads. This variety shows good tolerance to diseases such as downy mildew and bacterial wilt, enhancing its resilience and reliability in cultivation.

Marketmore 70 requires warm conditions, adequate moisture, and fertile soil for optimal growth. The crop is moisture-loving, but watering should be regular and moderate, considering the shallow root system. To increase yield, it is recommended to use organic and mineral fertilizers, as well as follow agronomic practices such as soil loosening and plant density control during the 1-2 true leaf stage. Seeds should be sown after the frost danger has passed, when soil temperature reaches 10-12 °C, at a depth of 3-4 cm with a seeding rate of 0.2-0.5 g per square meter.

For successful cultivation of Marketmore 70 cucumber, select sheltered sites from cold winds with good sunlight, as the crop tolerates some shade. Seeds can be preheated and soaked prior to sowing to improve germination. Sow in rows with spacing between plants of 15-30 cm and between rows of 50-70 cm. In greenhouses, trellises can be used for plant support and improved ventilation. This approach ensures a high-quality harvest with excellent flavor.
