Nami cucumber is a parthenocarpic hybrid of cornichon of the new generation "Premium" class, developed by the breeding company Hazera in 2023. This hybrid is intended for cultivation in greenhouses of any type and is suitable for both fresh market and canning. The fruits have a length of 10-12 centimeters with a length-to-width ratio of 3.2:1, featuring a slightly wavy medium-thickness skin that does not become rough or shriveled during storage. Flowering is in clusters, with 2 to 4 fruits forming in each node, contributing to high yield. The root system is strong and effectively supplies nutrients to plants during heavy fruiting.
One of the key features of the Nami cucumber is its high resistance to diseases, including CMV, ZYMV, and CVYV viruses, which significantly reduces the risk of crop loss and enhances production stability. The vegetative period of the hybrid is 40-43 days, allowing for early and high-quality harvest. Due to its characteristics, this variety is ideal for greenhouse cultivation, ensuring uniformity and attractive appearance of the fruits.
For successful cultivation of Nami cucumber, seeds should be sown when soil temperature exceeds +10°C, typically from late April to mid-May. It is important to choose light, fertile areas with good drainage, well-lit, and sheltered from wind. To accelerate germination, seeds should be preheated, soaked, and pregerminated, as well as hardened before planting. Observing crop rotation and changing the planting site annually will help maintain soil health and increase yield.
