Description Ring Mushroom
Dried mycelium of the "Ring Mushroom"

Ring Mushroom is an edible and tasty fungus. It resembles noble boletus in shape and color. It can be boiled, stewed, fried, used for canning and salad preparation. It grows in summer and autumn (from June to October), mostly outside forests on well-fertilized soil, occasionally in deciduous forests, and is rare.

Cap: 8-20 cm in diameter, fleshy, hemispherical and closed in young specimens, later spreading, yellowish or reddish-brown. The edge of the cap is initially rolled with remnants of the veil. Gills: initially gray-purple, then brown-purple, crowded, attached to the stem. Stem: up to 12 cm long, thick, smooth, very dense, with ribbed ring. Flesh: dense, tender, white, slightly yellowish under the cap skin, smells like radish, but has a soft and pleasant taste.

Cultivation technologies for Ring Mushroom:
• ROWS. Rows for Ring Mushroom are arranged outdoors in warm, wind-protected areas. Use all kinds of heated soil areas (best if the territory is heated) and create microclimates using various covers for optimal growth. At the same time, constant shade, for example from trees, greatly hinders mushroom development. The location should be semi-shaded.

Cultivation near fences and walls of houses, as well as among corn or sunflower crops is not recommended. To protect against soil fauna (insects, worms, mice), rows are isolated from the ground using a layer of plastic film. Then lay down straw in layers of 60–80 mm and compact it. The finished bed has a height of 200–250 mm and a width of 800–1200 mm. At a height of 200 mm, 20–25 kg of dry straw is required per square meter, i.e., one standard bale.

• GREENHOUSE. Ordinary greenhouses are suitable for cultivating Ring Mushroom. Lay a layer of plastic film on the soil surface, then greenhouse frames. The upper edge of the greenhouse should have a slope for rainwater runoff. Cover the top of the frames with tarpaulin. Fill greenhouses with straw along the entire length. After laying straw in a 200 mm layer, there should be approximately 120 mm of space between the straw surface and the lower edge of the frames. Later, the straw settles, the bed height decreases, and sufficient space remains for fruiting bodies.
