DescriptionAsket
The Mogar ASKEET variety – an erect bush with 1–5 stems, growing 119–128 cm tall and featuring a dense cylindrical panicle 14–23 cm long. Leaves are lanceolate, and bristles are light brown up to 1.2 cm. Ears are rounded-elliptical with brown scales; the grain is reddish-brown, with 1000 seeds weighing 3.3–3.6 g.
The vegetative period from emergence to the first cut is 50–66 days and to maturity is 91–121 days. The variety is distinguished by high drought resistance and good yield: dry matter – 56.0 c/ha, seeds – 24.4 c/ha. At the first cut, green mass reaches 9.8–14.2 t/ha, and at the second – 5.5–9.1 t/ha; seed protein content is 14.1%, fat – 6.4%, and fiber – 9.3%.
For optimal growth, sowing is recommended when soil temperature reaches 80 ℃ and at a sowing depth of 2–4 cm. The sowing rate is 3.0–4.0 million seeds per hectare. Fertilizers R45-60K30-45 are applied after autumn plowing, nitrogenous N45 – before sowing. Herbicide treatment is possible at the 3–6 leaf stage to control broadleaf weeds. The ASKEET variety is included in the state registry and is suitable for growing in all regions of the country.
