SURSKEY is a medium-maturing flax cultivar (Linum usitatissimum L. f. elongata) intended for flax fiber production. The plant reaches a height of 85-90 cm, has a long stem, and blue petal coloration that changes from blue-violet in the bud stage to blue upon full development. The vegetation period is 70-81 days, with an average time to flowering onset. Seeds are brown, with the mass of 1000 seeds varying from 4.4 to 4.8 g. The capsule is of medium size, lacks fringed false septum, and the pistil at the base is blue. The seeding rate is 18-20 million per hectare.
The variety is characterized by high yield and fiber quality. Average flax straw yield reaches 36.4 c/ha, seeds — 5.7 c/ha, fiber content in the stem varies from 28.2% to 33.2%, and long fiber yield reaches 26.2%. The relative breaking load of the fiber is 11.6 DaN, indicating its strength. SURSKEY exceeds the standard by significant percentages in straw yield, total fiber, long fiber, and seeds, making it a high-fiber and high-yielding variety.
The variety is resistant to major flax diseases, including rust (100%) and Fusarium wilt (96.7%), and possesses good lodging resistance (3.7 points). It is recommended for intensive cultivation technologies with nitrogen fertilizer application at a rate of 25–30 kg/ha of active substance. Due to its characteristics and resistance, SURSKEY is suitable for cultivation in the North-West and Central regions, particularly in the Tver region, ensuring stable and high yields of quality flax fiber.
