Lomkocolosnik Elf

Working with the "Elf" lyme grass

When selecting perennial grasses for pasture use or forage harvesting, productivity and survivability are paramount. The "Elf" variety, developed by the breeders at RosNIIPTI SK and Saratov State University, has proven to be a reliable option for regions with harsh climatic conditions.

Agrotechnology and Growth Cycle

A stem height of 60–90 cm is optimal for mechanized harvesting, ensuring equipment efficiency and dense biomass for high-quality silage production. Spring sowing offers a faster start, but autumn sowing, under favorable conditions, ensures excellent root establishment before winter. The plant demonstrates high winter hardiness, which is critical for perennial stands.

Operational Features

• Harvesting timeline: Due to the uniformity of the stand, "Elf" allows for harvesting within tight schedules, reducing equipment load.
• Pasture use: The grass recovers quickly after grazing, making "Elf" an economically viable solution for livestock operations.
• Maintenance: The crop requires minimal fertilizer application compared to intensive hybrid crops, significantly reducing the cost per ton of feed.

The "Elf" variety is an excellent choice for those focused on long-term investment in their forage base. Its development stability, predictable vegetation, and ease of maintenance make this lyme grass a valuable addition to any crop rotation system.
