Description FRANT
Lovage (Agastache foeniculum) – a perennial herbaceous plant of the mint family with a characteristic anise aroma and mint-anise taste. Its aerial part, rich in essential oils, is widely used in cooking: young leaves are added to salads, dried ones to tea, imparting fruity notes to the drink. The plant is also valued for its nectar-producing potential and attracts bees thanks to its bright purple, light pink, or white inflorescences.

In folk medicine, lovage is called «northern ginseng» due to its ability to boost immunity. It is used for wound disinfection and treatment of skin diseases, as well as in cosmetics – as an anti-wrinkle agent maintaining skin turgor and youth. Leaves and flowers have antiseptic properties, making the plant useful in home conditions.

Lovage is easy to grow: it prefers sunny locations, moist, well-drained soil, but does not tolerate waterlogging or meltwater. Propagation is possible by seeds (sowing in open ground from April to August) or seedlings (from March to June). Planting scheme – 60×40 cm; in the first year, it is recommended to cover the plants for winter. Stem height reaches 1–1.5 m, and seed germination is about 85 %. Due to the ease of care and versatility of application, lovage becomes valuable for both gardeners and those looking for natural remedies in everyday life.
