Lily BALADA

The Michurinsk Breeding Heritage

The 'Ballada' lily is a hallmark of the I.V. Michurin Federal Scientific Center, representing the strength of Russian botanical research. In the horticultural market, this variety is recognized for combining academic breeding standards with high adaptability to continental climates. Developed as a reliable, high-performance cultivar, 'Ballada' is a product of long-term selection aimed at achieving consistent, repeatable results in both open-field conditions and controlled greenhouse production.

Aesthetic and Morphology

The distinctive character of 'Ballada' lies in its elegant, recurved petals forming a classic turban (martagon-like) shape. The soft pink hue adds a layer of sophistication, making it a preferred choice for floral arrangements that require a refined, rather than overly aggressive, aesthetic. Its morphological structure provides not only visual appeal but also structural integrity to the bloom.

Market Application and Utility

• Decorative Landscaping: The variety is highly valued for its balanced habit, which fits seamlessly into tiered garden designs. Its ability to maintain structural form throughout the flowering cycle reduces maintenance labor.
• Cut Flower Production: 'Ballada' serves as a reliable asset for local cut flower markets. Due to the flower's durability and sturdy stems, it withstands post-harvest handling well, making it a sustainable option for floriculture professionals.

'Ballada' occupies a niche that favors durability and local genetic adaptation over volatile exotic imports. Its reputation is built on the predictable, robust performance that breeders under the Michurin center have prioritized, ensuring that it remains a staple for both landscape professionals and cut-flower production specialists who prioritize quality and environmental hardiness.
