Triumph hop — a modern American dual-purpose hop developed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's hop breeding program. It took nearly two decades to cultivate and was officially launched on the market in 2019. Its pedigree includes East Kent Goldings, Brewers Gold, Nugget, and Hallertau Mittelfrüh, giving it noble genetics and making it especially suitable for lager production. High demand for this hop led to expanded cultivation areas, and 2020 became a breakthrough year for Triumph on the hop market.
Triumph has a bright fruity aroma with notes of lime, orange, peach, and even bubblegum, making it versatile for various beer styles. It is more delicate compared to other fruity hops, allowing its use in a wide range of brewing recipes. Thanks to its high alpha acid content, this hop is excellent for imparting bitterness and aroma to beer.
Triumph is most commonly used in American beer styles such as American Pale Ale, India Pale Ale, and NEIPA, as well as in fruit beers. The pelletized form of the hop, obtained by drying and grinding cones, retains natural resins without the use of chemical binders, ensuring convenience and stability in brewing.
