The Glyana hemp variety is one of the fastest-maturing industrial varieties, intended for cultivation in cooler Central European regions. The vegetative period from emergence to technical maturity lasts 85–90 days, and to biological maturity — approximately 110–115 days. Plant height reaches about 245 cm at the end of the vegetative period. This variety is distinguished by high yields of stalks, fiber, and seeds, making it versatile for various industrial purposes. Glyana is included in the state registries of Russia and Ukraine and is used as a standard variety for registering hemp cultivars.
The yield of Glyana stalks is 75–80 centners per hectare, with fiber content varying from 20 to 32%, and long fiber yield reaching 26–29%. The fiber's breaking load is 37.5 kgf, indicating its strength. Seed yield ranges from 11–14 centners per hectare, with 1000 seeds weighing 17.0–18.6 grams. Seeds are characterized by mosaic appearance and contain 30–32% oil. The variety is resistant to diseases, enhancing cultivation reliability.
Glyana hemp seeds belong to the superfood category due to their high content of beneficial substances. They are rich in vitamins, trace elements, and essential fatty acids such as alpha-linolenic (omega-3), linoleic (omega-6), gamma-linolenic (omega-9), stearic, and oleic acids. Approximately 75–80% of all fatty acids are polyunsaturated, which supports immune system function, brain development, gonads, kidneys, and skin. Due to these properties, Glyana seeds are widely used in the food industry and healthy nutrition.
