Galaxy F1 cabbage is a late hybrid of white cabbage, developed by the Dutch company Seminis. This variety is highly adaptable to dry conditions, capable of withstanding both soil and air drought, as well as brief temperature drops. It grows well on various soil types, including depleted, clay, and sandy soils, making it suitable for cultivation across different regions of Ukraine. The cabbage is resistant to fusarium and unaffected by pests, significantly simplifying care and increasing yield reliability. The vegetative period is 130-135 days from transplanting seedlings into open ground, with harvest occurring in autumn. Heads are round and light green with a grayish tint, reaching average size and weight of 4 to 6 kg, though with adjusted planting density, weight may vary from 2 to 3 kg. Cross-sections reveal a dense, yellow-white structure. Leaves are large, wavy-edged, gray-green with a characteristic waxy coating that protects against insect damage, such as thrips. Due to its dense structure and high sugar content in juice, the cabbage retains excellent taste even after prolonged storage. Galaxy F1 is suitable for both fresh consumption and processing, including pickling. It exhibits synchronized ripening and high seed germination, requiring infrequent watering, which reduces maintenance costs. Thanks to its low maintenance requirements and resilience to adverse weather, this hybrid is popular among farmers. The harvest can be stored for up to 12 months without loss of appearance or taste, and is suitable for long-distance transport, making Galaxy F1 a profitable choice for commercial cultivation and marketing.
