Description Mikado
Post-emergence herbicide for controlling broadleaf weeds on rapeseed crops

Active ingredients: cloquintocaine, 267 g/l; picloram, 67 g/l
Manufacturer: Peters & Burg Ltd, Hungary
Formulation: aqueous solution
Package size: 5 L canister

Mode of action

Cloquintocaine and Picloram are systemic substances. They are absorbed by the above-ground vegetative mass of weeds and quickly spread throughout the entire plant (through both xylem and phloem). As a result, the activity of growth hormones in the plant is inhibited, which in turn disrupts plant growth and development. Consequently, the plant dies.

Herbicide effects signs

First visible signs of herbicide action appear on the 3rd-5th day after application under favorable weather conditions. Complete weed death occurs within 2-3 weeks.

Application recommendations

Crop development stage

The product is applied when crop plants have formed 4 true leaves and before flower buds appear. Application before the formation of 4 true leaves or after flower buds appear may cause phytotoxicity to crop plants.
Weed development stage
Maximum efficacy of the product is observed when applied during active weed growth and development.

Weather conditions

Air temperature of +12...+25°C during application is optimal for weed control.
Air temperatures (<+10°C or <25°C) slow down the distribution of the product in weeds and reduce its efficacy, which may lead to regrowth of weeds.
Rainfall within 6 hours after application does not affect its efficacy.
It is advisable to avoid application during fog or dew, which may cause the working solution to run off the plant surface and reduce the product’s efficacy.

To control sticky sowthistle, apply the product at a rate of 0.35 L/ha.

Application of the product

The product is applied using ground sprayers at a working solution rate of 250-400 L/ha. The maximum rate is recommended for late crop development stages and for crops with high plant density. During application, ensure complete and uniform coverage of the entire weed surface with the working solution.
Compatibility with other products
The product is compatible with most pesticides and agrochemicals, but compatibility and phytotoxicity of the tank mix components must be tested beforehand in each specific case.

Preparation of working solution

To prepare the working solution, fill the sprayer tank with half the volume of water, activate the mixing mode, and add the required amount of the product. Top up the sprayer tank to full volume while the mixing mode is still active. During application, keep the mixing mode on to maintain the working solution in a homogeneous state.

Warning

If the product was applied in autumn, its reapplication in spring is prohibited. However, herbicides based on CLOQUINTOCANE may be applied in autumn if Mikado application is planned for spring or vice versa.
Effect on the next crop rotation.
Generally, application of Mikado does not impose restrictions on planting the next crop rotation.
However, a significant amount of plant residues that were treated with the product and have not degraded in the soil may negatively affect the next crop plants belonging to the Fabaceae, Solanaceae, and Umbelliferae families. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid planting these crops if there is a substantial amount of plant residues treated with Mikado in the soil.
In case of the need to replant winter rapeseed treated with Mikado, spring rapeseed, spring barley, spring wheat, spring oats, corn, and ryegrass may be planted.
