Foxtail VIK 15

Ensuring Productive Longevity of Grasslands

Meadow foxtail variety «VIK 15», developed by the V.R. Williams FRC, is an essential component for establishing sown hayfields and long-term pastures. Unlike many cereal grasses, this variety demonstrates exceptional resistance to excessive moisture, making it an optimal choice for reclaiming low-lying areas, floodplain meadows, and land prone to periodic flooding.

Practical Field Application

• Developing Challenging Sites: The variety successfully withstands prolonged (up to 30–40 days) flooding by spring waters, where other forage crops typically perish.
• Intensive Pasture Usage: «VIK 15» possesses high regrowth capacity and recovers quickly after grazing. Due to its tender leaf structure, it is palatable for all types of livestock.
• Establishing Perennial Grass Mixtures: The variety serves as a robust foundation for mixed plantings with clover or alfalfa, ensuring stable green mass yields for 8–10 years.

Agronomists select «VIK 15» to strengthen forage bases in regions with high soil moisture. When following seeding rates and basic agronomic practices (fertilization, weed control during the first year of establishment), the crop forms a dense sod, effectively suppressing weeds and preventing soil erosion on slopes.
