TIMOFEEY

TIMOFEEY — an early-maturing parthenocarpic cucumber hybrid that begins fruiting 43-45 days after germination. This variety features exclusively female flowers, ensuring stable fruit formation without pollination. The cucumbers are dark green, 14-16 cm long, with a bumpy surface and white spines. They are non-bitter, crisp, and juicy, making them ideal for fresh home salads. The variety is characterized by consistent yield and high commercial quality, guaranteeing a good harvest every summer.

Cucumber TIMOFEEY can be grown both in open ground and under temporary plastic coverings. Seed sowing is conducted in early May, and transplanting 20-day-old seedlings into the soil occurs at the end of May or beginning of June, when the plants have formed 3-4 true leaves. When sowing directly into open ground, seeds are placed in furrows 1.5-2 cm deep, spaced 50 cm apart. After thinning, 3-4 plants are left per linear meter. For successful cultivation, cucumbers require highly fertile, neutral, well-drained soils enriched with organic fertilizers.

In addition to agronomic characteristics, the TIMOFEEY variety is associated with folk traditions and superstitions that imbue this cucumber with special significance. Folk belief holds that eating the first cucumber of the day of Timofey’s feast brings good luck, and burying a cucumber in the middle of the garden attracts happiness and protects the harvest from evil eye.
