Cucumber SVETOZAR

Optimized for Greenhouse Efficiency

For greenhouse operators, "Svetozar" represents a reliable production standard. This parthenocarpic hybrid, developed by the Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Breeding and Seed Production (VNIISSOK), is engineered for high-performance glasshouse environments. Managing this vegetative-type plant requires a systematic approach to pruning and climate control, but the trade-off is a consistent, high-yield harvest that meets professional quality requirements.

Operational Performance

• Plant Management: As a vigorous vegetative hybrid, the plant demands consistent training and pruning to optimize fruit development rather than excessive foliage growth.
• Disease Resilience: The hybrid’s inherent resistance to Cladosporium (leaf mold) and Cucumber Mosaic Virus significantly lowers chemical input costs. Its tolerance to powdery mildew further stabilizes the health of the greenhouse environment, reducing the need for aggressive interventions.
• Product Standards: The fruits, reaching 15–20 cm in length, feature a dark green skin with distinct, heavy ribbing (tubercles), which is highly valued in the wholesale market.

Operating with this hybrid in glass structures allows for predictable growth cycles. By maintaining precise irrigation and fertilization schedules, growers can capitalize on the plant’s ability to funnel energy into fruit production. It is a robust choice for those seeking a balance between high-intensity harvesting and simplified maintenance protocols.
