Cucumber Yani RZ F1

Stability and quality in the long cucumber segment

For professional greenhouse operations that prioritize marketable appearance and uniform output, the Yani RZ F1 hybrid from Rijk Zwaan is a proven solution. As a vegetative parthenocarpic cucumber, it requires specific pruning and training techniques, but rewards the grower with high-intensity yields and consistent harvesting.

Key features and benefits

• Fruit characteristics: A smooth-skinned cucumber measuring 20–25 cm in length with an average weight of 250 grams. Its deep dark-green color remains vibrant even after extended transport, providing a competitive edge over varieties with paler skins.
• Disease resistance: Genetic resistance to cladosporium and powdery mildew significantly reduces the need for fungicides, a crucial advantage in the controlled environment of glass greenhouses.
• Plant habit: The vegetative growth pattern requires agronomic attention to balanced fertilization and timely pruning. However, this trait allows the plant to sustain heavy fruit loads without sacrificing developmental pace.

Who is this hybrid for?

Yani RZ F1 is the ideal choice for growers targeting the fresh market and retail sectors, where strict quality standards for fruit size and weight are paramount. Since it is a parthenocarpic variety, it exhibits stable fruit set without the need for insect pollinators, simplifying management within professional glasshouses. Despite its specific climatic requirements, the predictability of performance and the superior quality of the harvested produce make this hybrid a dependable asset for any commercial agricultural enterprise.
