Sonata F1

Cucumber Sonata F1 is an early, bee-pollinated hybrid of cornichon type, developed by the Dutch breeding company Rijk Zwaan. This variety is intended for cultivation in open ground and is predominantly female-flowering. The vegetation period is approximately 40-45 days, allowing for early harvest. The plant is resistant to adverse growing conditions and can fruit until the first frosts, significantly extending the harvest period and increasing its efficiency. The fruits of cucumber Sonata F1 have a light green color, length of 8-10 cm, and average weight of 70-80 grams. Their skin is thin but tough, covered with small bumps, and the flesh is dense and crisp, retaining its qualities during processing. The length-to-diameter ratio is approximately 3.1:1, characteristic of cornichon type. Due to its superior commercial qualities, this hybrid is ideal for fresh consumption, pickling, marinating, and canning. Sonata F1 exhibits high resistance to major cucumber diseases such as powdery mildew, downy mildew, and cladosporeiosis, reducing the need for frequent treatments and promoting high and stable yields. The seeds of this hybrid are treated by the manufacturer, eliminating the need for additional fungicide treatment or soaking before planting. The recommended sowing time is from April to May, ensuring maximum cultivation efficiency and allowing harvest from July to September. This hybrid is versatile and suitable for both novice and experienced gardeners, successfully cultivated under various climatic conditions.
