Cucumber Investor

Stable yields without surprises

Working with the 'Investor' hybrid from Nunhems, you immediately notice the Dutch approach to breeding: predictability. This cucumber is a workhorse for those who don't want to fight greenhouse infections daily. The fruits have a classic commercial appearance, a rich green color, and a dense structure that handles transport exceptionally well.

Defense that actually works

The biggest headache for any vegetable grower is fungal disease. What makes 'Investor' stand out is its resistance to cladosporiosis. In practice, this means one or two fewer fungicide applications per season, which significantly saves on crop protection budgets. Of course, you shouldn't get complacent regarding powdery mildew or rot, but the genetic potential of the hybrid allows the plant to stay strong under stress.

Operational details

• Planting and Training: The plant requires standard pruning and training. It responds well to fertigation and doesn't become overly vegetative with moderate nitrogen levels.
• Harvesting: The fruits do not grow into barrel-like shapes, maintaining a consistent market-ready size. This eliminates sorting issues during the shipping phase.
• Climate Adaptation: Nunhems' Dutch breeding is focused on stability. The hybrid is forgiving of minor temperature fluctuations often found in film greenhouses during the spring.

If you're looking for an option where the ratio of maintenance costs to quality output is balanced, 'Investor' lives up to its name. It is an investment in the agronomist's peace of mind and predictable profit per square meter.
