Cucumber Athlete

Reliable Yields in Greenhouse Conditions

The 'Legkoatlet' cucumber is a specialized hybrid developed by the Urals Federal Agrarian Research Center, designed for professional use in glass greenhouses. For greenhouse operators, this variety offers a significant advantage in terms of management efficiency and disease resistance.

Performance and Resistance

Maintaining a disease-free environment is critical for high-density greenhouse production. 'Legkoatlet' is notable for its natural hardiness against several common and aggressive greenhouse pathogens, including:

• Root rot;
• Downy mildew (Peronospora);
• Olive spot (Cladosporiosis);
• Ascochyta blight.

This high level of resistance significantly reduces the need for constant chemical interventions, saving on both input costs and labor hours dedicated to crop protection.

Marketable Fruit Characteristics

The hybrid produces high-quality, large-tuberous fruits. With a length ranging from 20 to 25 cm and a consistent dark green color, the produce meets high market standards for fresh sales. The flesh density allows for better handling during harvest and distribution, ensuring a superior shelf-life.

Operational Guidance

The plants are robust and responsive to balanced fertilization. Due to their vigorous growth, systematic pruning and training are recommended to maintain optimal plant density and airflow. By managing the microclimate within the greenhouse properly, the grower can ensure that 'Legkoatlet' reaches its full potential, providing a reliable and profitable output throughout the season.
