Phantom is a variety of cotton Gossypium hirsutum L. recommended for regions with a sum of active temperatures of not less than 32000 °C. The plant has a cylindrical shape and medium height, lanceolate leaves, gossypol glands and nectaries are present. Petal color is cream, and the capsule is medium-sized and oval with a short pedicel. Openness is strong, raw cotton (fiber) content is medium.
Phantom variety fiber is of medium length and strength, fineness is medium. Total raw cotton yield is 15.8 c/ha, while the share of home-grown collections reaches 93 %. Raw cotton mass of one capsule is 5.1 g, and seed yield is 10.1 c/ha. Vegetation period lasts 116 days, fiber yield – 36.3 %, fiber length – 31 mm, staple length – 39.0 mm, breaking load – 31.2 N. Fiber type – 3-4.
The variety was not affected by diseases during the observed period, which confirms its stability and reliability for commercial cultivation. These characteristics make Phantom an attractive choice for fabric manufacturers requiring stable cotton quality with good mechanical properties.
