Maize STK 175

Stavropol breeding for the silage conveyor

STK 175 is a specialized corn variety developed for agricultural enterprises that prioritize the production of high-quality green mass. Unlike modern high-intensity hybrids designed for record grain yields, this variety, created by the Stavropol Breeding Station and the Kazminsky breeding farm, focuses entirely on vegetative productivity.

Why choose STK 175?

• Specialization: The variety is bred for efficient silage production. It shows consistent accumulation of green mass, which possesses excellent nutritional indicators for cattle.
• Adaptability: The regional breeding pedigree guarantees predictable behavior under local climatic conditions, which is crucial for enterprises avoiding the risks associated with expensive imported material.
• Trait stability: As a true variety, STK 175 allows for seed selection for the next season within the farm, providing significant budget savings without compromising the crop's basic characteristics.

Cultivation specifics and limitations

The medium-late maturity period requires careful crop rotation planning. The variety reaches its maximum potential when provided with sufficient moisture during the active growth phase. The main strength of STK 175 lies in the balanced ratio of the ear to leaf-stem mass, ensuring an optimal silage structure. However, it should be noted that the variety lags behind ultra-early hybrids in terms of moisture release rate; therefore, harvesting must be timed strictly according to the milk-wax ripeness phases to obtain the highest quality feed.

This variety is an optimal choice for livestock complexes focused on low-cost yet efficient provisioning of high-quality feed using their own seed stocks.
