NPID 2598 is a medium-maturing simple hybrid corn (Zea mays L.) developed by SYNGENTA CROP PROTECTION AG. It is included in the State Register of the Russian Federation and is intended for cultivation in all regions of the country. The plant is characterized by high height and medium leaf width, which promotes good photosynthesis and crop development.
The leaves of the hybrid are slightly curved, with a small angle between the leaf blade and stem. Flowering of the tassel occurs at medium time, with weak or absent anthocyanic root and silk coloring. The tassel has medium spikelet density, with a long main axis forming a small angle with lateral branches. Primary lateral branches are curved and long, but their number is small.
The ear of NPID 2598 is long, medium thickness, and slightly conical, with a short peduncle and medium number of rows of kernels. The kernels have an intermediate type, with the upper part colored yellow and the lower part yellow-orange. Anthocyanic coloring of the ear’s stalk is moderately expressed. These characteristics make the hybrid a resilient and productive choice for cultivation under various climatic conditions.
